These are some of the Invisible or Underground Pet Fence Products
on the Market
Invisible Fence ® - Invisible Fence® was the company that really out underground pet
fencing on the map. Stay-Put was an electronic pet containment system invented by Richard Peck of Trexlertown, PA. In 1976, John Purtell
purchased the patent from Peck and proceeded to build a highly successful business. The product’s name was changed to Invisible Fence®,
and comprehensive installation and training processes were developed. After several years of building sales in the Philadelphia area, the
company was expanded, marketing the Invisible Fence® product nationally and then internationally..
Initially Invisible Fence® had an exclusive patent but this ran out in 1989 and opened the doors for a number of competitors.
Pet Stop - When the opportunity presented itself, many companies merely copied the existing technology but
Pet Stop took a fresh approach. They contacted the largest radar detection company in the USA, and together they engineered a pet
fencing model that improved upon the existing technology by incorporating a variety of fresh and dynamic new features. The result was
a state of the art system. In 2001 John Purtell joined Pet Stop and was joined by a number of the top engineers and
executives that had worked for Invisible Fence® giving them decades of experience in this field. The new company prospered, and
today Pet Stop is the fastest growing organization in the industry, sold and installed by pet containment professionals throughout the
United States.
PetSafe - PetSafe introduced one of the first do-it-yourself underground pet fences to the
pet market in 1991 and the first wireless fence in 1998. PetSafe’s product line up includes: kennels and electronic underground fences;
bark control systems; a selection of remote training products; pet doors; pet identification collars; heated wellness products and pet
feeders.
